This is how the world really works.

Magic exists. (Sorry y'all.) but rather then blatantly advertise it or going about with the forces of darkness creatures and human beings simply live side by side. Maybe human beings scared them with their weaponry, maybe humans were just too scared of stories but they put themselves in positions of power early on. Wolves and Vampires in positions where they could control the masses. Witches and wizards working together to keep people docile, despite the few that fall through the cracks.
